Day 25: Singaraja

Now I’ve had my final day of (undergraduate) class ever! It was a full work day with our groups but we still had to go into school for some final instructions, our last provided lunch and to say bye to Molly of course!
My group had some difficulties breaking up tasks as usual, but overall I think we got a fair amount of work accomplished. Although we aren’t done with any of the tasks we have starts to everything and just need to edit and discuss them, along with translations. And figuring out our presentation…
The presentation itself is going to be pretty nerve racking, as it is ten minutes, English and Bahasa, and it will be in front of reporters, our trainers, all the other groups and any special guests we invite. We are naturally hoping to get some artists to attend and invitations were supposed to go out today, but got pushed to tomorrow.

Only 3 more days in Singaraja which is absolutely insane. Also only a week left of this program! At this time next week I will be alone in Denpasar waiting for my next day flight to THAILAND! I am ecstatically awaiting that.
We met as a group to review necessary tasks for tomorrow and complete a few more things. Make sure you go like our organization on Facebook at www.facebook.com/santhiseni and follow us on twitter at www.twitter.com/ksanthiseni!
After the meeting Dian took me to the Internet cafe just to sync the edited google doc we had made offline, and then she helped me get a ten o’clock dinner at a food cart. Tasty vegetarian Nasi goreng (Indonesian fried rice) for Rp. 4000 ($0.40)? I’ll take it!

Lessons Learned:

  • The Dian love continues! I somewhat jokingly told her she was the light of our group today, but really it is true. That girl’s smile, surprising sense of humor and amazing working abilities really keep our group going.
  • Some little food cart areas charge a parking fee. Ours was Rp. 500, which is about 5 cents, and also bought a little motorbike tow to turn around and also a bit of help in stopping traffic to turn around. And of course I got asked - in really good English actually - where I am from.
