Day 23: Singaraja

Last day of lecture class today. Which means last day of undergrad lecture, ever! But there is still a ton of work to do between now and getting my diploma.
First off we had to work on our fifteen second elevator pitch, which is a good thing for me since I am pretty poor at public speaking and thinking while giving a presentation. After that my group was able to go get a fair amount of work done at an Internet cafe, in preparation for our final presentation on Tuesday and final packet due on Wednesday.
I worked on the budget, which of course I am kind of swimming in the dark on since I have never started a business, but nevertheless I think we are slowly getting somewhere.
The others in the group worked on different projects to varying degrees and at the end of three mildly stressful hours of work we broke up the remaining work to bring in on Sunday. After that Alessia and I walked home while I stress ate some tasty bread and talked about how happy, and kind of surprised we are that we ended up working so well together! It is pretty amazing that you can disagree with someone all day on a variety of issues and still walk home and laugh about the hard day you both had, even if you caused each others frustration.

Dinner consisted of some interesting street food I already forgot the name of, but essentially it was a really thin pancake with cabbage and egg in it deep fried in a huge wok of oil. Kind of similar to an extremely greasy scallion pancake. Also finally tried these thick pancake/cake things with chocolate sprinkles and peanuts in it. Overall dinner was great but I can feel it all sitting in my stomach right now.

Tomorrow we are off to the Coral Reef Restoration Project for some snorkeling! I am very excited and told Erica today that I hadn’t really realized how cool the ocean was until I went snorkeling and scuba diving last weekend.Lessons Learned:
  • Still need to work on speaking abilities! But I did manage to keep my interview somewhat on topic today
  • ‘Photo?’ with a smile and a camera is a universally understood question, and is normally acknowledged with a smile and nod. Even when it’s two teenage boys cooking your oily dinner!
